When investing in managed accounts the account remains in your name. With your approval via limited power of attorney, trades are placed based upon a number of trading models directly onto your account. Your money remains deposited with a third party Bank or Broker. 

When opening a managed account, your application and funds are tendered to a registered FCM or bank independant of the Money Manager. If your account is approved, a Limited Power of Attorney is form is submitted by you to allow the money to execute trades on your behalf. You should also note that the Limited Power of Attorney prevents the manager from adding or taking funds from your account with the bank/broker.
